o You must be 16 years of age or older to borrow a SmartSpot, or have a parent/guardian to take responsibility for the SmartSpot loan. The parent/guardian must have a patron card and sign the contract for the SmartSpot.
o You must present a valid library card and photo ID to borrow a SmartSpot.
o Your library account must be in good standing order to borrow a SmartSpot. (You may not use a temporary card to check out a SmartSpot)
o One SmartSpot per family can be borrowed.
o You may borrow the SmartSpot for fourteen (14) days.
o A $10 deposit is required, which will be returned when the SmartSpot is returned to the library with all of its’ component parts.
o Service is only available in Ontario. The connection is 3G or 4G/LTE and service will be dependent on the availability of the Bell Cellular Network in your area.
o Data is capped at 10GB per device per month. Once the cap is met, the SmartSpot will not connect to WIFI.
o Use of the SmartSpot for illegal actionable, or criminal purposes, or to seek access to unauthorized areas is prohibited.
o Any attempts to subvert data restrictions of the device will be monitored and may lead to a warning, or suspension of borrowing privileges.
o Once checked-out please keep SmartSpots at room temperature, and do not leave outside or in vehicles.
o The SmartSpot will be deactivated if the device becomes overdue or lost.
o Overdue Fines are $1 per day up to a maximum of the device ($150)
Privacy and Security
Parents/guardians, not Cramahe Library, are responsible for their children’s access to the internet.
Cramahe Library does not share any data related to users’ Internet activity. The Library assumes no responsibility for the security and privacy of on-line transactions, including credit card numbers, online banking information, and passwords.
Borrowers of Cramahe Library’s SmartSpots are responsible for the protection of their own devices from viruses, spyware and spam by having up-to-date anti-virus software, firewalls, etc.
